I might be getting a laser welder from work. It has not ran in about 10 years since the control for the cnc section died. They started replacing the control using MDSI OpenCNC and Yaskawa Sigma II servos with Mechatrolink communications. After spending a lot of money and it was still not finished they decided to cut their losses and it has sit ever since. Looks like it was originally owned by Tektronix.

The laser on it is a JK Laser MS-830LD. According to the manual it can do up to 100 pps, 55J, .5 to 20ms duration, 400 watts average power. It has all the manuals, schematics, and even some spares like a pair of new flashlamps. It say that with the LD optics it can cut 5mm metal!

Bad thing it needs lots of water and 208 three phase. I might have to build a RPC to run it.

Anyone worked with one of these guys?
