Familiar as in I know what they are. Never used them however. Poo Tools yes.
Most of my recording experience is with multi-track tape. (long lengths of plastic film covered in rust, wound onto reels.)![]()

Oh yeh!! 24 tracks on 2 inch tape ?? Now yur talkin my language !!!!!!! YEAH !! You are an old fuk, ain't cha ?? LOL ....,...
Good ole analog recording studios YEH !!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, that thing is beautiful. 24 analog VU meters on the front. No doubt a history of being run to a mixing console with so many faders buttons lights and switches it looked like the cockpit of a 747. Yeh I remember NAB and IEC EQ. Ampex and Studer -whew- bringing back memories now. Like my 1st reel-to-reel 2 track 3 head Sony machine circa 1974. Off topic ? .. I think this is my thread.. lemmee check .. yep, so we can talk about anything we want to heh. I guess might need to move it to the lounge to keep things orderly around here tho ..
I can talk analog for hours.

Yep.......
You aint the only one... MCI 24 track was the first tape deck I used professionally. It was new then at Rumbo Recorders back in the 80's. I survived the 80's and am still amiss as to how. I did how ever make the grammys as a voting member!
Congratz Nuphotonix !! That's very cool.
Yeh Bart, I like your thinking![]()
I'd like to find a small-ish 8-track recorder that will record DC levels and launch shows from it. And possibly transfer some older ADAT material to it too.
I'm not sure if the tongue in cheek came across.
Surely anything based upon the analog storage on a magnetic medium can NOT be dc.
Besides that it would be a shame to poke around with a solder iron in vintage gear, solely for the sake of a geeky experiment.
