    I have a DAT recorder thet blew out my speakers twice by applying straight DC to them. I couldn't figure out what was happening until I removed the speaker cover and saw (between songs that I recorded) a 5 second "pulse" straight DC level thet excurged my poor speaker cone to the point that it finally smoked the voicecoil (twice before I figured out what was causing it) Maybe because the recorder is digital (on magnetic tape) but still ... that's kinda what I was talking about.. still not sure .. magnetic tape (analog) may be able to reference dc to an amp.. might have to try an experiment one day ..

    Besides that it would be a shame to poke around with a solder iron in vintage gear, solely for the sake of a geeky experiment.
    Yeh wouldn't want to do that .. :/ That'd be a crime ..
