Default How to use LSX on macbook air?

is this even possible? i know its possible to run windows through boot camp.
but is the macbook air good enough to handle lsx without problems, and if yes what versions(2008-2013).

because the riya also requires you to install drivers ect. they need to work.

i want to buy a macbook air if lsx can run on it without problems.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Apple just announced their new MacBook Air line at WWDC! http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...ly/macbook_air

If it were me, I would go with the latest and greatest.

Not sure how LSX handles any rendering it needs to do. If it relies on the GPU, the MacBook Air wouldn't be your best bet because it only has integrated graphics. I would go with the new MacBookPro with Retina Display (I have the 13" and think its the best thing since warm socks out the dryer on frosty winter morning).

BUT.. if LSX relies on CPU to do most processing/ rendering, MacBook Air shall be fine.

Maybe someone can chime in who knows how LSX is built...

LSX works fine on my 6 year old c2d macbook pro and it works fine on my very new retina macbook pro. i've run it both in vm's and natively using bootcamp. you will not have problems.

The biggest limitation with running Windows in a VM on the older Macbook Air is RAM.

Only the brand new Macbook Air, and the previous (mid-2012) generation support 8 gigs of RAM.
Everything before that is only 4 gigs of RAM - and the integrated GPU takes up almost half a gig.

So if you're running a Windows VM in OSX, you really can only give Windows 1.5 - 2 gigs RAM.

If you're doing bootcamp, then Windows can get the whole ~3.6 gigs of RAM.

I love my Macbook Air, and it will run LSX well, but if you want a dedicated LSX laptop, you might find better options elsewhere.

I'm currently looking at touch-screen laptops for my laser control.
The Asus Zenbook Infinity looks like the best so far, but it's not out yet and no word on price.
I'm also waiting to see the haswell-update of the Lenovo Yoga line. The 13" yoga is nice and a decent price.

I'm running LSX (the two projector version) on an older Gateway brand Win XP laptop running on a centrino (modern Celron processor I think.) It's got maybe 1.5GB of RAM if I'm lucky. It handles very well! I'm using a RIYA DAC @ 30kpps. Having a DAC that loops the frame is wonderful. I only use it for LSX, and also have it installed on a desktop computer. The joy of having the license bound to a usb key!

I prefer ethernet over usb, but tend to use them both.
(How the heck do you add two or more ethernet DACs to LSX?)

2nd DAC is on my "pretty soon" list.

connect the laptop to a ethernet switch and plug the dacs to the switch.

    works like a champ.

Do you just list multiple IP addresses in the text file that has the IP address in the LSX dir? One per line or something?
