To those with closed accounts, what country are you in and what explanation did you get?

If you have a linked bank account, you might be able to get your bank to insist on repayment to your bank account. If Paypal won't accept you're who you say you are, the money will default to them as owners in the absense of a rightful claimant, so you must establish your ID. If they won't accept it, get your bank (who presumably do accept it) to formally demand on your behalf that Paypal return the money to your bank account.

Truth is I have no idea if that can work, but it should. It ought to be written into whatever passes for a constitution for Paypal. Even if it can work, I bet someone will want to charge you money for the service.

I got the locked account message. I did everything they told me to. They said they could not do anything about it. AI called them and gave them an hour long piece of my mind. When I threatened to file a police report against them(I live in the same county as them), I got an email saying my account had been unlocked. The thing that pissed me off the most was that they locked it literally 12 seconds after I received $2500 for an eBay sale. They also asked me for a bunch of proof about items I had purchased locally at flea markets.

Just to stick my nose in a bit, I shift thousands through paypal monthly.

We have had problems in the past with locked funds due to some dodgy people among other things (never had the account FULLY closed though....) but i have to say they have been good.

As always, give up with the whole e-mail thing and ring them!

They were very helpful on the phone.

    My 2 pence worth....
    Regards,

    Aidan

The sad thing is that they outsource all of the people on the phone. They were like idiots when I talked to them. Just repeating the same thing with different wording. I have talked to automated systems more literate then the people at paypal. Too bad there is no other way.
