Default Coherent 577nm or 'Equivalent' for FX-Project..

    Hey Kats -

On the hunt for a used (due to budget..) but excellent working-condition, Coherent 577nm OPSL. No 532's need-apply. UNLESS, it's paired with a 639nm and can all fit in the budget-bucket. Must be a 'turnkey' setup... 5W model, ideal. 'Moar Power' is better, but the Client-budget is not huge, so... better to look at used / good-condition 5W and make the deal happen.
Pix / specs will be required. PM or email. Needing ASAP. (..before mid-July... (!)

Alternatively, considering an approach with a 3W MG, and 1W dual Mitsu-Red combos, but... a) availability of drivers is a concern, and b) this project would require 14x of such-like dual-Reds, so... not sure how 'economical' this approach would be.. However, might be (in the end..) a better approach, since the Client is looking for a slightly redder, more 'amber' look, so... (..Yes, I well-know a 577-opsl is not 'amber', etc.. they understand and are willing to consider letting that desire 'more ideal-color' slide, if the cost / performance-ratio is better, etc with a 577..) Also, don't really see, ie: 14x 250mW Greens + 14x 2W Reds being 'viable', budget-wise, but.. (???)

Preferring to give this order to US-based suppliers. No 'predjudice', simply do not wish for 'customs-risks', from far-east suppliers, nor any Co. not already well-versed in using a 2877 properly.. 'US-import-seasoned' Euro-OEMs are welcome to reply..

Also, to *emphasize* - this is NOT a request for a projector, of any-sort! Seeking raw lasers, as OEM-integration modules, only. So, please no ads / responses for CHEKOUTOURNEWLOLZBOXEZONLY$129.WHILESUPPLIEZLAST!! !!

    Danke!

I want one just to heat my house (and because these colors are so gorgeous)

Judging by those colors it would make some awesome photo effects to illuminate objects or even structures like bridges etc...

Beam-size would be less-desireable, but... apertures are cheap... Hmmm...

robin brought his spektronika to NWLEM. it was very manageable by two people and was most beautiful.

here's some cell phone video i shot at the event. it's easy to see which laser is the CuBr as the projected images have "marching ants" dots like giant cut and paste selections.

There are a number of folks in the US that still have their Spektronika CVLs..... And they are not very large or heavy.....

The yellow color is one of the most amazing wavelengths out there as far as I am concerned...

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Right-on, but here's the thing - again, this is not for a 'show' - won't be scanned, etc, all static / fixed / term'd beams... Project is an 'install', of (indefinite) duration.. could be 6 mo's, could be 2 yrs - dunno.. So, that is (maybe) in-favor of a 'ceiling-mounted rig', to deal with the (as big / heavy as it-is..) part, but that would also-be dependent if the space / venue will allow-such, and I have not seen the space, yet. Also, this need to be *only* yellow / amber-ish, so.. copious-amounts of that wonderful 511 / 515 (iirc..) is really not helpful, in this case..

..But, the bigger concern to me with a Spek, is, with them being 'OOB', not sure how easy it will be to get replacement tubes, if, say someone's 'occasionally used / but good' one, suddenly (from continuous-use..) goes titties-up, at the install... (...and now what..) I wholly-agree with the super-badassness of the CV-Yellow, colorwise, etc, but , unless someone knows of a stockpile of easily-buyable tubes, for them, I'd be a bit redicent to recommend this as an option.. It's really a shame that they went under, as yes - those are really-righteous lasers.. and.. Gas!

I think, if an (ideally..) OPSL, or DPSS / diode solution carn't be found (..in-budget..) *and* the Client was willing to 'deal' with some big behemoth-laser, off to one side, I'd prolly think to go more with a LS, in some other room, pumping a Dye-pack, with the sulfarhody-640 swapped out for the RG6, or something, and then I can easily deliver, shoot - prolly north of 10W of even slightly-tailorable (depending on dye-mix / BRF, etc..) yellows / ambers.. And, no problem to fiber-deliver it to the display-area, since the beam-qual out of those dye-heads is just (comparatively) stellar..

..But, whether they would be willing to 'allow', an even 'offsides' / room-solution like this, is yet 'tbd'... And, yes, of course, one proposed 'solution' will-be a 577 OPSL at 'full whallop' / proper-budget pricing, but.. just 'fishing' to see if there might be something in used / surpluslandia, that might allow for such efficiency, etc, within the requested-Budget..

    Thanks for the input...

Man, those pics really scare the S*@t out of me... CV beams hitting people in the face? Those lasers are SOOOO much more dangerous than other lasers because of the pulse factor. I blew out the CCD in a very expensive camera with just a minimal hit of a fully scanned liquid sky effect with my 5Watt Spektronica.

I've still got one used 577nm Taipan on the shelf. It's doing 3W @ 35A, 4.2W @ 45A. Also have several drivers and heat sinks.

Several high power green and blue units as well if anyone else is interested.

    PM for details.
