Yes, I now, but at 70mm, the average size is more 1mm or 1cm ? And what about this one (NBD7875) ? https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf...odes/9mm-445nm ? You think is better ?Click image for larger version.

... the smaller the aspect ratio difference in the far-field, and the shorter the focus length (my are mostly focussed to around 30mm distance), the better ...

with the NBD7875 with a g2 lens i'm able to focus down to about .2-.3mm x.3 -.5mm @ 70-120mm tool height it is a little oblong and not perfectly round but very small, i'm sure the more powerful 6w diode's would require some different optics to get down to those sizes.

... I'm focussing to a 0.05mm big and nearly round spot in 20-30mm 'tool-height' ... with a 3.5W-diode this is already an ellypse, and with the 6W-diode a 'bar', with the same optics and setup.

that's good to hear, since i'm pretty new to this and really haven't been messing with the focus to much, but i'm measuring off of the engraving width and from greyscale rastering. i'm sure the wood matters a lot there, been mainly using crap plywood.

my first greyscale's have been ok but nothing close to what you guys are doing, also just using raster2 until i can get picengrave.

anyway here's some of my first pics.

This is a specific request to JJWMACHINECO:

As a guitarist - this is bugging me. Who are the band playing on the backing track to your video of the production of the bikini girl?

We needed a new 2016 Calendar for the office, so we decided to laser engrave one on 1/8" Birch Ply.
