they needed some blue 3w lasers and some 60w ir bars that would kill the cameras and toss the flir. the fire works are a nice touch. wonder if a 28" mortar would take them down in the rotors

    forgot... add some 4-10x collimators

ok more....use a scanner pair to track the heli or use fpv to aim with the eye.

Pressure cooker bomb ball bearing into the rotors

    They were tame bah.

    Damn -
I bet those were some PISSED off pilots, and rightly so!!
(and evidently very well trained and restrained ~ the "target" appeared to be a gunship)

    Just goes to show ~
Morons with high-powered laser pointers know no international boundaries

Revolution or not, I feel for any of the emergency services folks trying to maintain some sort of control amidst all the laser-wielding chaos an the ground...

yea I'm one of them so I know. Why they don't make 532 notch goggles already I do not know. Add 490 lowpass to it and your pretty good for most of what is out there. could notch 620-1300 as well

Yes expensive but that would make the laser invisible to the pilots.

    Me too...

Laser-protective visors and/or eyewear are not only expensive, but they tend to have some crazy effects on normal vision (been there, done that, not real fun).
Not to mention the lack of compatibility with the typical night vision devices.

But, it does sound good, in theory!

On another note, your commentary about how to bring down a helicopter is a bit fucked up...

A few years ago in a land not so far away, I got to try the new protective widgets because I knew the right words to say when we walked by the demo table. Not bad, not bad at all. But probably very expensive to make.

As for the old notch idea....

Most dichroic notches have a cosine wavelength shift with angle. I've used old coated safety eyeware, for dye lasers, and immediately wished for the glass ionic or or plastic dyed ones. Room Color shifting as your head shifts is very, very, annoying. I imagine with a modern Rugate coating it is not a issue. Rugate means you blend the index of refraction in the coating material as you deposit it.

Visor-induced environmental color shifting while you're flying at low altitude is very, very annoying as well...

    Stuka,

The new widget filmed in Technicolor, and had, as Mel Brooks would say, Schmartz.
