Default P73 doesn't do what it should do

I was wondering if anyone had cases where a P73 only gave about 290mW instead of the 500mW?
I run the diode at about 665 mA with the badpip driver.
Trying to create a good diode mount....

What lens are you using ?
Odds are the fl is to long and your getting the loss
    From the beam being clipped
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

I measured with the bare diode just in front of the meters sensor. So no lens, hence no clipping or losses.

I noticed this with a few of mine. The project has been put on the back burner as I am busy with work.
Adam Burns was here at Caribblem when we noticed it wasn't doing what it was meant to be doing.

Be interesting to hear your findings.

    Cheers

I have not had any problems myself
All 6 that i have are tec cooled and banging out
    850mw +each @ 1250ma.
Are there any dim spots in the stripe ?
    Must a duff die.

They look ok. All stripes seem to have the same brightness.
Maybe it is a monday morning diode...

Did some more tests. Giving it 750mA it reached just under 450mW.
Double checked current and tried different driver. Same results :-(

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    ahh!

    use a 12v supply instead of 5.
