Default new LSX show "Native Beat"

this is a bit of a departure in style for me.

i have some good friends who are members of the pascua yaqui nation (native american tribe, for those of you across the pond).

they are musicians and dancers, and instrument makers and very good people. i mentioned to alex at indian market that it might be fun to use some of their music and video footage of his grand daughter dancing for a laser show.

they were all over the idea.

i spent an afternoon in their studio (http://www.twohawksasg.com/) and filmed multiple passes of them playing instruments and luisa dancing.

then i synched the video tracks in final cut and processed the video until i had a reasonable silhouette.

i processed the video stream with lasercam and imported the ilda stream into LSX where i added transitions, color effects, and abstract animations.

this represents more hours than i care to admit, but i'm very happy with the final product. when i showed it to luisa (she's about 9), her eyes got really big and she said: "you made us rock stars". that's when i knew it was worth it.

It goes without saying.... top-notch, as always! 2:21 is my favorite part. I love how you did that sun abstract with the drummer.

Very nice. I liked the sun/star in the background of the drummer at minute 2.25.

Questions: How did you do the effect from minute 1.05 to 1.22? How complex of a pattern do you start with? What type of events and effects are you using? That is some of the craziest pattern manipulation.

the effect from 1:05 - 1:22 was made in the lissajous editor and then cloned three times (for a total of four) with a z-rot loop expression. i then performed some xy rotation, a pre-move x sine curve, and some world xyz rotations.

the color cycling was also done in the lissajous editor, but the intensity chopping was done with a post-rgbi event.

Wow! that's a fabulous show Chris, it kept my interest right through to the very end. It's been fascinating watching your journey and your progress, well done my friend
