Is this 2.5A per channel(driver)? or 2.5A total for both channels?

Actually, the recommended max current is 2.2A per channel.. This is governed by the rating of the sense resistors.. Otherwise the driver will easily do considerably more with both pots maxed out.

Sorry another question, can the modulation line be tied to the the supply voltage to get full on or must it use max 5v modulation? For test in setup I find it easier to just tie the 12v supply to modulation line, a habit from a previous driver I have used that could work that way.

Also is there a manual for the pots? Can you use it as a single or must both be connected. Seems I have a red led and no output. I even connected two diodes and still get green light for about 5seconds then it goes red.

Just looked back and saw these have beam suppression maybe it has been working I was trying to just run up bias with the modulation input shorted 0v. Hmm will go test again.

all works but could still use pot assignment and how does one set bias properly with beam suppression I would usually run up bias till I saw a turn on with 0v modulation then just back it a smidgen down. Without a .1v ps how does it get set properly.

Theres a 5.1V zener ( and TVS diode ) protecting the mod inputs. If you hit the mod input with 12v whilst setting current, that should be a issue, however you will end up setting max current for a mod input voltage ~5.1 to 5.2v.. This just means max current at 5v will be slightly less.

Running 1 of the drivers and leaving the other unconnected should be fine

    Nice work Dave.

Nice to see yet another design which "might" also end up in the pile of failed drivers.

    Die4drive; what happened.
    Badpip; what happened.
    DrLava; what happened.

This is not some dig at you Dave so don't take it like that; just a point that we seam to be going around in circles with drivers because they are all copies in some form of each other. So surely the end result is likely going to be the same. Cheap drivers eventually fail or destroy diodes. Not because they are bad but because they are not bullet proof designs.

I hope Dave's finally turn out to be the Holy grail of Drivers that we can all rely on using but time will tell.

LOL, if its not a dig at me, please enlighten me as to why you are jumping on this thread..

The drivers you listed above had no problems other than lack of supply, and as far as I am concerned my offering is has been tried and tested both on the bench, and in my hire lasers, which are used week in week out.

Please mate, if you have nothing better to do other than to shit on other peoples threads, maybe you should stick to LPF....

My comment was quite fair Dave.

As I wrote; it is not a dig at you. If you want to take it like that then fine.

As for jumping and commenting on a thread; commenting is what threads are for; not private places for an advertisers sole use. I would say advertise at your own risk; comments will get posted both good and bad.

Drivers all have there flaws; it takes some time and lots of users to find them.

My design too were tested like this and being human I did have some that failed because something was overlooked.

Got my drivers today. With connectors, too! Thanks, Dave. I am going hook these up this weekend and play with them! Hopefully you have plenty in stock because I am going to need a few more in the near future.
