Default Laws in Europe regarding lasers

    Hi,

A whole time back i made my own projector (1,2W color, analog modulation & 20k scanners) and i was really fascinated and happy with the end-product.
I liked the result so much that i decided to start a small company that gives lasershows and ultimately sells projectors and components build by me.

I'm really careful about the security with lasers; i know what they can do when handled improperly and i absolutely want to avoid that.
When i give a lasershow (in a medium sized club as a demo etc) i take my time to adjust the safety zones in Quickshow and i make sure the laser is mounted securely so it can't just move and hit someone on accident.

But i still don't know for sure what the laws are in Europe and especially in the Netherlands where i live.
I know there are some guidelines about the output power, minimum distance between the public and the laser, etc.
But i often see people who just mount a laser in the middle of the club, scanning the audience on full power with sometimes even over 1,5W of combined power.

I also don't know what the rules are about selling lasers; i know you need to put a warning on the outside about laser aperture, but what else?
Is there a place where all those guidelines and laws are collected, so i can read them?

    Hi dooiespons

I'm just learning the law and all about the safety side of things here in the UK and there is quite a lot to learn! I'm due to do a laser safety course this month, provided by LVR Optical (Jstewart on the forum).
I know that there is a raft of information here on Photon Lexicon regarding safety and there are some members from the Netherlands too, who may be able to point you in the right direction regarding training and information closer to home.

The ILDA website has information regarding safety as does Pangolin.

Documents IEC 60825 parts 1 to 14 cover all aspects of laser manufacturer, classification, selling and display in Europe.
I seem to recall that parts 1, 3, 10 and 13 were significant for us specifically but haven't got my course notes in front of me.
1 concerns manfacture, 3 concerns displays iirc
    They are, unfortunately, very expensive.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
