I'd go for if it seems too good to be true, then it is too good to be true.
The listing suggests that they know what it is so I'm sure they would rather sell it at a proper price rather than risk it on eBay.

Then again, he wisely paid extra for the 10 day listing period.

I checked his feedback, and he's purchased some high dollar items in the recent past, so he really doesn't fit the pattern of a scammer. More likely that he's counting on the 10 day auction period to drive the bids up, and by starting low he both increases the public's interest in his auction and also saves money on the listing fees.

I'd say if you're in the market for an LD2000 pro setup, it would be worth watching this auction. I also expect that the bidding will rise into the 4 figure range pretty quick.

If you've got doubts, you can always send him a message through E-bay and ask him to call you. If he's selling a board worth nearly 7 grand I doubt he's going to balk at making a long distance phone call to talk to a potential buyer...

I know I'll be staying out of it. Much as it would totally rock to snag a deal on a pro system like that, I just don't have the funds right now. (Damn car repairs are eating me alive at the moment.)

But I'll bet that *someone* will end up with a good deal on it. All the better if it's someone here on PhotonLexicon...

I dunno, something just felt funny. The items he has sold and is selling, most of the info there looks like it was cut and paste from Pangolin's site. Could be my parinoia at seeing such a high dollar product there, and the fact I want it and know it'll go WAY beyond my current means.

I just wanted another opinion for no good reason. I'm not even sure why I looked for Pangolin.
