Default cambridge 3mm scanner mirror failure

Ok so I'm sure lots of people clean there scanners mirrors. I have some light dust on my larger of the two so I put a drop of first contact on the mirror waited and peeled it off. Guess what the coating came with it! Anybody ever have this happen. What did I do wrong? This really sucks. Its going to cost me probably $150.00 for a new mirror and then I risk damaging the scanner when I go to reglue it back on. Those saturn scanners can't come soon enough. I really have had it.

It might have been a bad mirror, i guess bad luck?
I've cleaned mine alot but never had a coating came of.
I guess you peeled of the 1st contact carefully with a peace of sticky tape or did you use something else which probably damaged the mirror (screw driver to scrape it of).
Could it be you only dropped the 1st contact and didn't used the brush to spread it out over the mirror so you had to use some extra tools to get it of, i do use the brush to spread it out to get a equal filter of 1st contact, but i doubt that a drop of 1st contact would peel of the complete coating on a good condition mirror, i can't imagine.
Next time just spread the amound of 1st contact on the mirror which your gonne use, just strike the brush a couple of times on the top of the bottle to get rid of the extra first contact.
When you order a new mirror you have to work carefully to glue it back on (i used epoxy glue buth there are more good alternatives, maybe someone could do a suggestion), but your not gonne damage the scanner by replacing a mirror if you work carefully.

nope put a thin layer on and even used one of the lables they provide to remove it. I've done this on countless scanner mirrors with no issue. I think I might take this opportunity to put a better mirror on or a larger mirror as I never run 60kps anyways.
