Default LSX PicEdit and ILDA file

    Hello Everyone,

I have just purchased the LSX Basic package, and have used ILD SOS to convert my image to the attached ILDA file. For some reason, PicEdit will not import this file.

Does anyone know what I can do/change to make this work with PicEdit. I need to animate this graphic for a party I'm having tomorrow night.

    Thanks for the help...

    Hi,

Indeed, PicEdit won't work with Ilda files, as PicEdit can only edit .pic files, which are single frame by definition. Ilda files can contain multiple frames as well.
It appears importing and exporting ilda files in (Quick) PicEdit is bugged at the moment, but there are two easy workarounds (though they involve LSX, in addition to PicEdit):

    1) Drag and drop an ilda file from a browser to the LSX timeline. The ilda file is automatically converted to a .pic file and stored somewhere in the .cat file (where it has enough space, it won't overwrite already existing .pic files).

    2) Open the FramePicker (left column of icons, below the SFX button and above the buttons that toggle beamshow preview). In this window, you can load in an ilda file under File >> Import Ilda file (...). The ilda file is now loaded in the selected beginposition of the .cat file.

Now you can either edit the frame in Quick PicEdit (the internal pic editor in LSX, View >> Switch to quick picedit or the 3D button in the same left column), or export the individual .pic files (with the save button in quick picedit) or save the .cat file (the filmstrip button in quick picedit, then File >> Save) if you want to load it in the external picedit program.

The system with pic and cat files is a bit weird and annoying at first, but it's something you'll need to get used to.

Great, thanks! That is a bit of a workaround. Hopefully, the PicEdit import/export feature will be fixed soon.

I'll keep working with it to get down a good workflow for design.

Thanks again - have a great weekend!

Once I've created my animation in LSX Live, there's a button that is suppose to record to ILDA file. I need this little animation saved as an ILDA file, but it doesn't seem to be saving it the my hard disk anywhere.

    Am I doing something wrong?

It's only a few seconds anyway... and the main animation tools are hidden in lsx anyway (try the "morphing" tab in the animation event, but make sure the two frames you are morphing have the same point count).

(edit) Do you mean in Realtime? Yes, when that button is active, it will record anything you play on the timeline to ilda. This means you need to put it on the timeline and let the show play over it with the button enabled. Make sure to disable the button after that. The ilda files will be located in the place where you saved your show (so save your show first). There will be one ilda file for each timeline (so in basic, you'll get two).

If you don't want to do all of that, you can load in the pic or cat file in ild sos and export as ilda file directly.

And thanks.... it's going to be a great weekend for sure! I'm going to watch my favorite band with my dad Probably the only time in my life I'll get to see them.

Is there an easy way to ensure the point count is the same cmb? I'd like to do some morphing but haven't played with those buttons yet!
