I'm looking for some single sided SDRAM. A minimum of 512MB per stick. 1GB sticks would be nice. I only know of one place that has 512MB sticks but the price is insane. This is for a QM2000 by the way.

I've found it and cheaply at some local computer shows. The problem is, it won't work without some modification to the board by Pangolin - unless you know the secret solder points. Which I don't. I think I paid around $13 for the memory.
All I could find about using more than 256MB is this.
Nothing about soldering. The ability to use 256MB was added on May 10 2001. The ability to use 512MB was added on December 20, 2001. All QM2000 boards with serial number 4200 or higher can use up to 512MB.
However, if your serial number is 4199 or lower, then you may have older firmware (the QM2000 on-board operating system). To check this, select the Help/About menu in LD2000 or Showtime, click on the "Boards" tab, and look under the "Firmware date" column.
If the date is earlier than December 20, 2001, and you want to use 256MB or 512MB, you will have to send your QM2000 board to Pangolin so the firmware can be updated. You would have to pay for shipping both ways, plus $50 for the update.
In addition, we strongly suggest you order a your memory module from Pangolin at the same time. This ensures that 1) you have the correct type of memory, and 2) your board is tested with the new memory. For current pricing of memory modules, click here.![]()
That's the first I've seen that quote. I'd happily pay the $50 for the firmware upgrade if I could use the memory I picked up. Everything I've seen previously sounded like it was going to be $250+.
I'm going strictly by what I've been told by others. Upgrading the memory regrettably isn't just an easy swap. You either need to send it back to Pangolin and pay for the upgrade OR... there is supposed to be a modification that can be done to the board to get it to accept the higher memory amount. It's a solder point and it's either a jumper or, something else on the board but not a lot of people are familiar with it.
Why don't you contact Pangolin to find out the price
According to the Pangolin website - "The price as of January 2010 for 512MB is $250" as this is three year old information there is a chance that this price has dropped (there is also a chance that the price has gone up as I believe it's no longer manufacture)
Additionally, if you go to this page of their site http://www.pangolin.com/LD2000/qm2000memory.htm they tell you all about the memory and the requirements including a picture that has the part number KVR100X64C2/XXX (XXX = Memory size)
I found a site here in Australia that has it for AU$35 (and according to this site this memory was designed for Apple G4 computers so this could be a source of them http://megamemory.com.au/48-kingston...x64c2-512.html)
Also (and I could be wrong here but I seem to recall see a post on it) but I believe that if you using beyond it no longer need the increase of memory for storing frame, this is also evident when you play a show in Beyond you no longer need to wait for it to load and it plays instantly unlike in Showtime

as for the mod it took all of 2 min and pangolin sent me a photo of where to make the jumper (all it i had to do was bridge 2 pins on the board)
PM send with some information regarding the modification of the QM2000 board for accepting 512mb of memory.
