    Default Far field alignment

So i went to a festival this weekend called Something Wicked. They had a pair of 11w kvants and a pair of 5w, last pair never found out (6 lasers total)

Anyways... At what distance do you guys do your farfield alignments? i do mine at about 20'-30'

The reason i ask is because when they were trying to mix a yellow beam @ 30-40' you could clearly see red and green beams with a considerable gap between the two.

I do my farfield at 100' with several bounces. I'd go farther but I need bigger mirrors. Color mixing looks great.

I now use my wives vanity mirror (she still wonders what happened to it lol) that is a mag mirror on one side. This simulates longer distance which is handy inside. I bounce back to a wall next to the projector. I aim for alignment equal to my largest indoor gig.

Using lots of bounce mirrors can be a pain to setup. My cheat works a treat and you can bounce again once you have come off the mag mirror.
    This space for rent.

I second this. I set my projector up in the back yard and fire from the back porch diagonally to the corner of the fence. It's about 105 feet. But yeah, a longer throw is always better when adjusting your far-field alignment. (Within reason of course - you still need to be able to SEE the pattern to determine if it's aligned or not!).

When setting at 100' at what distance from aperture do the beams converge?

I do mine first at about 30 feet and then check it again at 100 feet but, I also walk back and forth. I'm not sophisticated enough to use mirrors yet and besides, they tell me exercise is good.

Same. I do give or take 30'. Then walk the distance with a piece of white paper in my hand checking alignment all the way back to aperture.
