There's quite a few 'Old Skool' ion members here. I'm assuming that you are in the USA, for starters there's DSLI_Jon (Jon), Laserman532 (Pat) etc. In the UK we've got Laserhobbit (Steve) and a fair few others, sadly names elude me as it's 3:00am in the morning here and I should be sleeping. In fact some of the names you've already mentioned are members here. I expect they'll crawl out of the woodwork eventually

Taking a couple of minutes to fill out the location in your profile would be good.

Welcome to PL! You've stumbled on the Mecca of laser geeks and a lot of very talented people that would love to see and help you get that Laser Image CS back up to it's glory. Don't know where on this rock you reside but, I can assure you that there is a LEM (Laser Enthusiast Meeting) probably somewhere close that would welcome you with open arms. I can only hope you're in the southeast United States. You'll learn why soon enough. Things have certainly advanced and the cost of entry, while still high is nothing compared to those days. The mere fact that you can hold a few watts in your hand that is air cooled and runs on 120v power should be culture shock enough. Still a bunch of gassers though... there is a passion about them even with all the headaches and backaches.

    It's still a wild ride!

hi bradfo69 .im out of new jersey usa .man i can remember meeting ivon at laser images for the first time back in 1993 .to me it was like meeting the biggest star in the world back then. i was 26 at the time .then mitch hartman brought me in there show room and thats when i seen giant leaps duel adat laser show.man all i could say was holy shit....then he showed me my first cs projector.it was a peace of laser artwork...up till then it was all open table optics.but this was a true laser projector 1 watt purelight laser .my first time seeing a pcaom neos running.then they were the kinds of scan glass and luma wheels.man that day changed my life.went there to rent a buck and boost transformer to run one of are large frame lasers for preshow testing.all i could think was how can i do a lasershow in a concert setting.well front screen laser show.big power with beems and fiber feeds.and that was that.at the time it was very safe to use cs parts.no way to have stray beems easy setups and pcaom color.you can thank me for the part of the neos manuanl that reads do not hit the edges of aom when at 2.00am in the morning i blew one up with 25watts and a bad miss tune ....not my fault but back then they told me that it would hold 100 watts but 11watts in ten out 15watts in 12 out then 25 watts in15 out....now we know that there is a blooming effect that chokes then out.but then that lesson cost 2000 dollars.

Hot damn! No place in New Jersey is more than a 2 hour ride. Mark (above) and myself are in the Wilmington/Newark, Delaware area maybe 30 minutes from Philly. In the very near future, I (we) are going to be starting public, ticketed planetarium style shows in the banquet facility I manage.

Mark your calendar for August 14th and do whatever you have to do to block out a couple of days. Trust me... you want to find a way. Here's some light reading:

SELEM is the granddaddy of all LEM's... or the mutha' depending on your preferred phrasing. There is your wedding day. The birth of your kids. And... SELEM, as far as life experiences go.
