I spent more time with the BioRad laser today and discovered that there is another interlock in the 8-pin connector at the back of the laser head. Two of the pins are connected to a dead man switch in the laser case. Once I placed a jumper between these two pins, the power supply turned on!!!
As soon as the power supply turned-on, an alarm went off in the case. I thought something was connected wrong but after about 20 seconds, the laser emitted a blue-white light!!!
It turns out, that the laser will emit without anything in the power supply "Interface" connector.
Now with the laser on, I have more information:
The 8-pin connector on the laser head has two pins for 28VDC to power the fan. I am currently running the laser with an external centrifugal fan that I use with my Uniphase argon laser.
The laser head has a switch labeled "Low" and "High."
I probed the "Interface" connector and measured the following voltages with the switch on "High" and "Low":

Now that the laser works, can you help me with the interface connections to adjust the power level?
Thank you for your help!

Reason: Added Interface voltages with High and Low laser output
