I have one of these sitting on my desk in front of me. They are incredible, precision engineered and really substantial. How these can be made for the price Bill has suggested is beyond me, every projector should be fitted with one at this price.

Very nice mount and great value... I will be ordering some when I get home next month...

It's a shame the self adhesive mounting plates have studs on them and not a female thread though. Looks like I might have to make some mods. My projectors all have hardware masks at 100 centres, so these would foul on the masks...Doh...

It's not such a wacky idea. We have some positive lenses in stock. I tried it with my Kvant projector. Indeed for short throws a +1 lens does improve (i.e. sharpen) the laser. I got excited about this, but then when I tried it at long throws what I found was that it really didn't have a beneficial effect. Completely setting aside Al's diagram, the lasers themselves may actually be converging for a few meters before they start diverging. Adding the positive lens tends to help for short throws, but essentially does nothing useful for long throws. A laser is supposed to act like a laser, and should not be influenced (at least not very much) by a simple lens like this. Up-collimating before the scanners is a different story...

I'm not sure how many James has in stock. James would ordinarily be your better bet, because he'd be closer to you and thus, at least theoretically, shipping cost would be lower.

PS: I'm not sure if it has been mentioned or not, but we're also stocking full-round lenses that also fit securely into this lens mount, for applications where you want to affect the entire scan field, not just half of it...

Got three of them on the way direct from Justin. Now... to be able to afford more lenses!

Humm... Perhaps this years Pangolin holiday specials might include a little "something" regarding safety scan lenses? (One can dream can't they? )

I think you have a good idea here Brad. I don't think we can do any better on the mount, but perhaps some kind of special on the lenses. Please let Justin know this suggestion (I am writing from home now)...
