Couldn't that be built in?
When it arrives I'll yank power from it and then reapply and see if i have to cycle the interlock key or something.
I haven't seen this reset button on other lasers. Can you post a picture of one that has this ?

I've never personally seen one either. On a varianced projector or otherwise.
This is one of the reasons I mentioned Active Sensing in MIDI in the context of the thread talking about a means to stop a projector in absence of signals, especially if one is connected via optical ethernet link and you can't use extra wires in CAT5 lines.
To be of properly safe use, some soft reset would have to be active on the projector, otherwise how can it trust the order to restart? The idea of active sensing is to use a repeated signal that not only indicates connection, but one that is viable for the full complexity of scan control signals. If such a scheme is used, you won't need to reach some remotely mounted projector to enable it after reconnecting it to its source of signals, just restoring the signal line would be enough. (But for safety you'd probably still want the soft reset to be sent down that same link to wake it up.) Alternatively, as MIDI's Active Sensing is like (very tiny) UDP packets, why not make them like TCP? That way the projector must get them, AND it must send periodic acknowledgements that it IS getting them. That way you have much higher security. The soft reset could then be automatic. And it would be one hell of an anti-tamper system too.

I was always under the assumption that this could be something implemented into the remote interlock (e-stop), in that as long as it's equipped with a push to start button and it's never defeated with a bypass that would satisfy the requirements. I'm not in the US though, so I've never had the pleasure of applying for a variance.
That's basically the way my e-stops work as well. Mine requires a key and a twist.
Now... interesting to note that within 24 hours of this post, I have just seen a projector with such a button. I had a nice visit with Adam Raugh from X-Laser this afternoon and the unit he showed me (amazing by the way), had that very restart button on the back.
That rest button is completely impractical if you have a power issue and the projector is 20ft up in the air and you're 100ft from the stage at front of house mix position.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?
I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
I agree completely! The buttons on the back of the projector are there solely as a convenience for bench work when the laser is in a service or testing mode. The buttons on the back are over-ridden when the remote e-stop and status readout station is connected, we were going for a "best of both worlds" kind of thing.
Offhand, how much extra cost is involved in the custom anodizing and logo ?
