Default Full touchscreen control of ANY app...

I wasn't sure if this software had ever been discussed around here, so here are my thoughts on Avatron's Air Display.

It turns out I've been using this app for quite a while but never really gave any thought of what I could do in a laser show context. I'm a drummer/electronic musician, so I had been using this app to move my DAW (digital audio workstation) controls onto my ipad mini which I'd then place next to my drumset. It allowed me to cue up recording without having to get up.

I was toying with my new beyond setup and started investigating OSC control via my ipad when it all clicked. As it turns out, Air Display, made by Avatron (for about $10), allows you to take any Windows or Mac machine and extend the desktop out to any IOS or Android device (or even another computer running Air Display). So I tried it. Installed the software on my pc and ipad, fired up Beyond and dragged the whole window to the 2nd screen and maximized it. I was AMAZED at how well it works. Even with animate all cues turned on it was as if I was viewing it on my main monitor, but now I have TOUCH control and full portability. Now I'm really starting to daydream about what could be accomplished with this and a customized universe.

I recommend this software for everyone with the hardware to take advantage of it. I use it in my every-day business to put my mail reader on my portable device while I do my work on the main screen. It is awesome.

and of course, the disclaimer: I don't work for nor know anyone associated with the development or sale of this product, I just love using it and figured it would be useful to share my experience using it with you all.

    Enjoy!

Neat will have to try it out, laying out osc command templates isn't much fun.

seems like a fun app...kinda expensive for a app store app, il watch for discounts.
it was 4,49 euro in october when it was introduced, they might drop again.

edit: would love if drlava could implement touch control in LSX, for drawing dots and beams live. how awesome would that be.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

yes, but thats useless it seems.

    for example:
2 hands, both 2 fingers on touch screen, pinching on the screen. drawing lines between them. tapping makes dots.
when releasing fingers it disappears. would be a great idea for simple live beamshows synced to the beat!
and a color circle in a corner so you can live edit RGB colors while making the effect with the other hand.

simple yet powerful features i would say.

Get version 2, it is much faster.
Drag the second workspace over so you can more easily trigger cues. I use a kong nano to adjust brightness, speed, color, etc. works real good.

I tried this software out a couple years back at a nightclub I worked at, and in constantly crashed my computer. Perhaps it has been fixed by now, but I found it frustrating.

Anyone care to explain how this is different from any other VNC software?
People have been using remote control for a number of years with iPhones, etc so I'm just trying to understand how this differs.
Is it the fact it handles the remote device as a second screen rather than simply giving control over the primary display to the remote device?

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.
