Default Any ideas how these stars were made?

I can't seem to figure out how these were done. I would guess that it is a diffraction grating but if so, I have no idea how many lines per mm to achieve this effect.

I would guess a star diffraction camera filter. Look at the cokin star 4 and 8 in this link. A standard hot beam passing thru gives that look. http://www.cokin.co.uk/pages/diffractor2.htm

I use them and they give a great look. The green box zigzag is most likely not effected and coming from a different head.

I may have extras not sure but could look if wanted.

Laser Images Cycloid Generator B has three quadrature oscillators with AM and FM modulation. That image looks like something that might have been done with one oscillator using AM and the gain of the osc providing the AM signal turned up - perhaps with one or both symetries kicked over...

They remind me of the main body of the "machines" in "The War of the Worlds". The George Pal version.

I'd lay odds they we're used at the beginning of Laserium Starship - there was a better image that was also reminiscent of the wotw too - I'll try to remember to get a photo tonight.
