Is it my perverse imagination, or does that bike image in front look like a dick and two veg?
Anyway, the idea might work, green at Class 1 is bright enough. But the danger is that to get that exposure per unit area on any shape large enough to be useful will mean a strong emission if the source is small. And that will be true whether it's a scan, or a 'gobo' type imager. Besides, it doesn't have to be a laser. Maybe if it were a laser for efficiency, then a moving diffuser disk broke the coherence, an eye safe version could be made.

All gratuitous technology playing to the paranoia of those suckered by the untrue "bicycling is dangerous" meme pushed by bike club nannies. Except the fender, which will keep your ass unstriped.

I belive this did surface on here a couple of years back
When she started brighton uni and started development of this
And guys on here did not think very highly of it .
You can just imagine riding along with a laser light on passing somthing reflective on the road and zapping an on coming driver in the face , with todays led tech a cutout gobo and a lens , would be a better idea
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

I could possibly see another Laser projected Bike/Phallic symbol
aimed out the rear of the bike in a Red Laser wavelength to perhaps
also randomly reflect into the traffic coming from behind....

Not quite the same as the device in the article, but these are already available - and I've bought some! http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Cy...1.html?bid=294 - not bad for £3:50 a pop! The bright LED array has various different flashing modes, and the twin lasers, which draw red lines on the road either side of the rear wheel, can either flash or be static - should be awesome in foggy weather.

nvented by a UK design student, Blaze is a detachable lamp that projects a laser image five meters in front of your bicycle to let motorists, bus drivers and pedestrians know you are coming.

I think a cheap $3 LED flashlight will do the safety work. Laser is too much.

I bought 2 of these for me pushrod. LED's are good but unfortunately the lasers are just not strong enough.
