    Dimensions

    Roughly:

    9.525 cm / 3.75 Inches wide.
    6.67 cm / 2.625 Inches Deep
    3.82 cm / 1.5 inches tall.

I say roughly as the heatsink is formed by bending and stamping. Dimensions vary around 1.5 mm in the Width and Depth due to the stamping and folding process. The heatsink occupies 9.5 cm by 3.8 cm and does need to be bolted to an external heat conductor.

Please remember to leave a bending radius for the galvo cable along the one edge.

So without reading the pages. I skimmed them and saw the talk of the scanners and a small driver that doesn't need to even be heat sinked. Bill posted this, but no where have I scene prices. What do the scanners cost with mounting block, power supply and amps?

good question, but impossible to answer because pangolin does not currently sell amps.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

So modified 3rd party is still the only route for amps? I take it this is the $110 option Steve is doing?

yes, or you send send amps to pangolin to get modified for 150$.

Depending on options, 506 are ~ 300$ a pair less amps/shipping right now.

The amps do run warm, but I do not recommend skipping the normal heat sinking.
The cooler the power amplifier stage is, the longer it will last.

Draw for a pair is 240 mA per rail at idle, about 550 mA drawing the ILDA test pattern at 30K/8 degrees, and about 1.0 to 1.5 amps average for a full field animation. At full power this is still greater then ten watts going into the LM3886, and thus I suggest heatsinking.

The peak (pulse or surge) currents can be 6 amps for 100 microseconds to a few milliseconds, so I suggest a beefy PSU. I'd suggest 4 Amps per rail minimum with two external electrolytic filter caps of say 5000 microFarads or more to handle the peaks.

In other words buy two 24V four or six Amp power supplies, and be happy. Be happier if you add some BIG external filter caps.

I tune the amps using two bench supplies set to 21 volts. I really do not need the full 24V for peak performance. You do need at least 18V to power the board's internal regulators.

I have a email from Justin to a customer suggesting late December/ Early next year for the digital amps.

Does that mean you are accepting new supplicants for a pair of your amps? If so please PM me current pricing?

    Thanks!

I'm trying to finish the shipping current lot first. But I will PM you the new pricing. Customs took an interest in charging an import tariff on the new amp shipments and I thus have to raise the prices. EMS did not help either with raising their rates for tracked packages. It was actually 8$ a pair minimum for shipping from that region of China with tracking.

I would be obliged if you would add me in on the PM for a pair of 506's + Amps + shipping & taxes to the UK.
    Cheers

    Colin.
