They should give them away as a promotiongift on every Prolight and sound event.
Arrrrgh! I hope Bill rakes it in! I hope that each and every employe of Pangolin gets a $50,000 production bonus! I hope they need a bigger building! I hope this and more if all of it comes from thousands of us WILLINGLY paying them for some marvelous scanners! Damn socialists!

Edison, you are completely out to lunch when you say the safety lenses are only as valuable as the glass they are made of. Ever listen to Beethoven? It's only some cheap ink and paper. Right?

Thomas A. Edison quote: "From his neck down a man is worth a couple of dollars a day, from his neck up he is worth anything that his brain can produce".

I already know that not to be true, in fact I understand they make very little profit on the lenses - they use special glass of very high optical quality along with expensive coatings to prevent internal reflections. They aren't just regular optical lenses bought in like some retailers sell. They are very carefully designed custom lenses.

Incidentally, the brackets at $29 were announced as being sold at cost price and if you talk to Norty about the quality, then I'm sure you'll be able to see that for yourself. I'm just surprised they could do it for that!

And not only what White-Light and Planters have stated but Bill has given two sets of scanners to community members for testing to validate his previous statements on their scanners performance, more than what Tom (Eyemagic) did when he was called on the claims he was making on their scanners. To this day we have not seen a side by side comparison of the Eyemagics scanners compared to the CT6215 (the at the time best scanner) either from Eyemagic or a 3rd party

I'm also assuming that Eyemagic don't want to publish the datasheets on the EMS8000 so they can't be called out on it again

So when you speak of transparency of a company, not being upfront to prospective customers means we don't want you to do your own research and compare data, just listen to us to give you a sales pitch

How many people on here have benefited from free scanner tuning, a free consultancy, free help or a free technical lecture at a LEM from Pangolin that might otherwise have cost hundreds of dollars?
Not only that, Bill has given out copies of Beyond (I personally went to buy the Upgrade and Bill gave me a copy) and provides discounts on their products every year

And Edison, aren't you someone that has started a business from this Forum and capitalized various things happening on the forum, Pot calling the Kettle Black me thinks
And are you telling us that you sell your laser modules at cost with no margin to recover the R&D cost and turn some profit? Honestly from you're comment above you have no idea of business.

As other have said, Pangolin is a business, one I'd be happy to invest in if they were a public company, as they are being innovative to the arena I like to play in and will be around for some time to come, if they started making mobile phones then I'd have to question their vision

    Arrrrgh!
    You spoke my mind.

Edison, you are completely out to lunch
    And again!

I'm not sure how many times you need to state the obvious and tell us that Pangolin are a business, making money off us, and all of the info we get from Bill is in fact a dirty trick to buy their excellent products.

We get it! Really we do. I have 10% of my wages paid direct to them, just like the church.

I'm getting the tattoo next week....

Hook, line and sinker, I'm sold.

It's like the Scottish Dad and his issues with 'The Colonel' in 'So I Married an Axe Murderer', Bill makes me crave Pangolin fortnightly....

That said, he'll bring down society as we know it in the next 5 years, the world will fall into anarchy, and I'll have to come on here and say 'I'm sorry, you were right all along'

    Can we move on now?

P.S. I don't recall your early days on the forum entirely filled with altruism come to think about it....

P.P.S. I don't think Pangolin have got it ALL right however, but on the recent products like Beyond, ScannerMax and SafetyScan I think they're on the right track. Ultimately they are still a relatively small company, and priorities get divided.

    edit -

I don't know about Steve, but I paid for mine in cold hard currency. I was kind of insistent in some emails that they sell me some, and then Bill offered to set up my amps if I sent them to him. Don't know if what i paid was 'retail' price, but it was certainly in the right ballpark of what i would expect these to go out at.

And Edison, aren't you someone that has started a business from this Forum and capitalized various things happening on the forum, Pot calling the Kettle Black me thinks
I was going to refer to that, it was an interesting thread I believe

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

ALL Companies should be banned from PL simply because every time something company related is posted; it is kind of spamming the forum which leads to arguments.

Of course that is the point here; To get ones logo and name on as many pages as possible.

Before anyone starts trying to say this is anti Mr Benner; it is not; its my general opinion about the forum which is relevant to this thread.

I do not think it is professional at all to spend time arguing on the forum either, an apparent big company having time to spend posting pages and pages of answers on this website is not the action of big companies.

Now what I do see here in this thread are attempts to re-write the history of scanners and who invented them. Hilarious really.

The laser show business is actually being destroyed by cheaper and cheaper products in china which are placing lasers the hands of idiots. Like it or not that is the reality.

The industry is actually being fucked up and this is not only my opinion.

PL is no longer a viable platform for the hobbyists; it is a marketing target for suppliers and a knowledge base for producers AKA ( cyper parasites ).

So, would that include yourself, being a company with your logo as your avatar and name plastered in the signature

I disagree. It may be all three, but it defiantly is a viable platform for hobbyists.
