    Hello Solidude

    Welcome to PL!

Glad that you know about the safety side of lasers. This was one of the first things I learnt about too.

I can only give a little advice as I'm pretty new to this game, but sure others will contribute with things I've missed

The galvonometers are precision bits of kit and some can be destroyed by over enthusiastic scan speeds or overly complex graphics. There are guides on the forum with information on how to read the ILDA test pattern to make sure you aren't over doing things.

Damp can be an issue too. I sometime use my lasers in cold (sheltered outdoor) environments. At night I leave the projectors switched on to reduce the likelihood of condensation on internal components.

Shock to a laser isn't a good idea. The galvos mirrors could break (also by knocking them when the case is open) or optics could be knocked out of alignment.

It is also important not to aim a laser into another laser (or a camera, cctv, projector) as this can cause damage.

Hope this is of some help.

Oh, where in the world are you? It's worth filling out your profile so that others know where you are as locals may be able to help more.

When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

My error solidude, there were links in the PL Wiki build section which link here.

I wouldn't play with the galvo amps though, but you can set up scan angle, speed, blanking etc using this and other test patterns.

What sort of shows are you planning on doing and how much time do you want to put into lasers? I currently use Quickshow (have used this for a few years now) and am learning LSX now (did my first live LSX show on NYE), which I am really enjoying!

I understand the damage the projector can cause itself, but I don't understand the damages I can cause to my projector myself and how to avoid it.

What shouldn't I be doing with it, or how shouldn't I be doing it? I read in this forum some people complaining how their scanners got damaged sooner than they expected. And maybe there are some humidity, temperature and settings I should avoid using the projector at? Thx for the help.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Maybe its good to do the research before buying the thing; it might save your eye sight.

The forum is full of experts who could guide you and there are many options for software; the most commonly used I guess is a software called Quickshow by a company called pangolin. My advise to you is learn about the subject a bit more before you start blasting beams all around your room.

Re safety, if your not prepared to shoot beams at your penis, then you should never let your eyes get hit.
