Default horizontal line instead of point?

EDIT: The way some of the members here have desperately tried to identify my location and nationality for whatever reason they believed was needed for by asking an admin to check my profile logs and researching me by the content of my posts has been very creepy and unnecessary. So bye.

cos you have a cheap Chinese red module, using a multi mode diode

boom, cni = cheap and Chinese

to cut a long story short it = big fat beam, normally resulting in the end beam being a line

the further the distance the more it will look like a line.

Watch Eric's video on spatial filters. Installing one will clean up that beam, assuming you have the room inside the projector.

That being said, normally those CNI reds don't look quite that bad. You may need to adjust the lens on the module slightly (assuming it's not glued down, that is).

It almost looks as if there are no correction optics on that red, such is the width of the stripe.
Can you open the case and post some pics of the modules?

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

If you can just see a screw on lens, of the sort that goes directly in front of a diode, then I suspect there are no correction optics.
Take a few pics, one so we can see the front of the module, 1 of the label, 1 of the whole module - bandwidth is cheap

    P.S. still no location data...

Unless 'MingNuo Optoelectrics Co' is a trading name of CNI, those don't look much like CNI modules to me, and certainly don't look to have anything more than a basic collimating lens in front of the diode.
The Disco 'D' series of lasers are listed as being Shenzen modules in the price list, did you specifically request/get told you were getting an upgrade?
Considering the whole D-RGB1500 projector is listed at 450USD on the latest price list, unless you paid over 1200USD (with DT40's), I'd be surprised if they'd be able to supply CNI modules.

Andy, those are like no CNI modules I've ever seen.
They don't even list 638nm as a wavelength they supply on their website.
And the 637 modules are nothing like those ones in appearance
