New red laser diode from Oclaro

Well I got my sample unit today to do testing and post results but it has met with an unfortunate end.

I had it and a P73 set up and pointed at a wall 25 feet away and while adjusting them to be perfectly parralel for a side by side spot size comparison I shorted the leads and LEDed the diode.

But I did get a general idea on how it compares and the line size with a G-2 is about 4/5 that of the P73 with a G-2. Something like this.




I will get another and finish the testing but at least I have seen it is slightly better than the P73. Just wish I could have got some power readings before it went. Sadly these are all the photos I got before killing the diode.






Also I got a shot of the dye. Excuse the crazy decanning as I did not have a lot of time.

Did you use a Dremel, LOL? What happened to the knife and drill?

Just got the one so I could get some testing info up here. The main release of them should come late this month early next month.

Any news on rough price of these yet? And do you have the revised pricing of the 1W 520nm diodes that somebody reported a day or so ago?

I know a rough price in small quantities (Oclaro) and I can get a hold of a few if testing will be delayed otherwise.

I just bought a Stack from them, they are better than the Mitsu P73 diodes for sure.
On single qty I can offer them for about 89€ / each excl. VAT , the price surely will drop if there is a larger qty needed.
Is there a interest for more pcs. ?

Funny guy you are. Yea I was kicking myself pretty good on that one. Anyway yea they released them my stock is in transit and will be here next week.
