    Default Laser TV's are here!

The laser TV is on the left, Plasma on the right. They're saying that they'll be out late this year.

Info on the NECSEL RGB laser module:

    Thumbs down Laser TV

Yip they seem to have been saying that for 18 months with little further progress .......... yes its something i would love to see ...so i can rip it apart :-) apparently they would contain 3 watts each of RGB .

Anyways this puts abit of cold water on the idea ...........
    http://www.about-electronics.eu/index.php?tag=arasor

"We were intrigued at first, but it turns out that Aussie company Arasor’s claims about Laser TV supplanting plasma TVs were a publicity stunt prior to them floating on the ASX stock exchange. Serveral US technology organisations have now also said they intend to sue Arasor for over $17.9 million dollars, relating to alleged loss of future profits and breach of the Trade Practices Act.

Arasor claimed recently that they are working with several major CE manufacturers including Mitsubishi whose Laser TV screen they demonstrated at the Sydney launch, however, many CE Companies are struggling to recall Arasor or the Laser TV technology "

    and so on .................

yes i had the same thought ....

They are using a lot of hype to try to get people to invest into a company that does not yet have a working product ....

Now there is an artical in PDF on their website thats so full of bullshit and cotradicts its self many times

on page 11 it asks what are the costs in regular Projection MDTVs
they say Lamp life, optics, and DLP chips

on page 12 it claims that thier system Saves costs because
the Laser module never needs replacing .... now i can not believe that this laser module will last for ever considering its a new technology and i dont know of any high power diode that does nnot have a few thousand hours lifespan

also it claims fewer optics ... showing just 1 of the 8 regular optics required .... but if you look at page 13 to show an example of the layout we arer back to 5 optics

and then it claims that the DLP chip will be smaller ... reducing cost
now the reason they need it smaller is not to save money but so they dont have to have a large divergence on the beams .... and having high definition DPLs manufactured that are smaller than the current ones available ...surely will cost more

they are also claiming that thier 65" laser rear projection TV will be only 8" deep ....and you can hang it on a wall .... now it may be possible, but using a DLP and rear projection ... still is going to require more or less the same focal path that we have on current rear projection TVs .... so i think it smells a bit

i could go on but its better that you read this lesson in commercial bull for yourselves

    all the best Karl

oh and why is this document in the Assets directory .... sounds a bit stock n shares to me

Too bad about the laser TVs being a scam..?
Coherent is working with Osram, maybe all hope is not lost for a rgb module as a component..
