    Default Preparing for the future, drivers!

    Ok, so with high power 520nm diodes on the horizo, and therefore the idea of a compact high power pure diode RGB 'brick' powered by a single supply becomes a reality, do we have a suitable driver available for all of this?

    E.g. a single driver board capable of driving 3 diodes/groups individually, plus TEC, running from a common 6-24V supply

    Aside from the optics, this is the missing link, but i suspect once the 1W green diodes start to proliferate, nobody is going to be interested in single and dual channel drivers too much, I don't think.

    Someone built a single board quad driver (no TEC though) can't remember who had them for sale .. it'd be enough for a green, blue and dual red if it could supply the correct currents/voltages .

    -edit-
    Found the thread. It was Badpip .. don't know if they're still being built or not ..

    Yep, I knew about that one but I don't think they're being made any more

    Yeah, Badpip has gone MIA. This is a very interesting idea. A 4 channel should still work, using the 4th channel for controlling a TEC if it could output enough current. I agree though, a triple channel board with a dedicated TEC controller would be a fantastic idea.

    Ahh this one;

    Not everyone will stick to just 3 diodes so a single driver is best in the end, the drivers are very easy make anyway even with cool/warm functions.

    Do you mean more than 3 wavelengths Andy? Clearly more than 1 diode of each type could be driven per channel, depending on the current/voltage limitations of the driver.

    I made a carrier board for the flexmods so I could drop as many or few on a board as I wanted. Makes it modular to populate a board with what you want. Plus it gives bigger pads to solder to, ties the interlocks together in groups as you see fit, and gives current set test points. happy to give it to whoever wants it but it would only take someone minutes to draw it themselves.

    I have several designs of drivers as you want. With a peltier driver, DC bulk converter, etc. One of them is here, in our forums
    In late January will be available bidirectional Peltier drivers and single-board diode drivers with advanced features.

    Bbe,

    This looks good and I am very interested in these. How many channels will the version you will have in Jan, possess?
