    Default Case fans. Opinions please.

    Hi All

I'm getting together all the parts for my projector project and need some fans but which ones as there are far too many to choose from. My requirements are 60mm - 80mm but no bigger, airflow over noise but not deafening, 12v power.

    What do you recommend?
    Cheers

    Colin.

DTR's 60mm fans are an excellent deal and reasonably quiet while providing decent airflow. They are available here: https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf...12mua7-57-60mm

SilenX sells near silent fans, but the CFM is quite low and they are 10 times the price of DTR's

If I remember correctly, I think Swamidog had a fan that almost took his finger off! I'd get one of them, just because...

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

I use 12V fans and run them at around 6V
My projectors just need air flow rather than forced air, and they're nearly silent in that situation.
It also reduces the amount of crap that gets past the filter, or gets sucked in through the unsealed joins of the case.

    Ouch!!

DTR fans look good but as he selling them at min unit sale of 10 on his web shop currently, I'll have to pass as I don't need that many (I only need 3 max).

Also, What is the preferred direction of airflow? Is it in to the optical deck (filtered of course) then out through the electronics deck or vice versa?
    Cheers

I like the Sunon 12V 60 mm fans
    SUNON PMD1206PMB1-A 60mm Case cooler
Like the DTR fans these are very high speed. What I do is run them up to the best speed with a variable power supply and then if they won't just by chance run at 6V (two 6V x2 in series to a 12V supply) then I'll add the needed resistance to cut them down from the available supply.

P.S. Get ten. You will use them eventually.

Best option for orientation is to completely seal the optical deck and use heat sinks to bring heat to the electronics deck.
I use positive pressure to avoid pulling unfiltered air in through cracks when the filters get clogged on dusty festivals.
