Wondered when I was going to see another ham! Nice setup - both the radios and the home theater. How much storage does your home media server have? Looks massive!

Finally... my new quadcopter arrived from Banggoods.com today. I'm doomed.

After the bad experience with the first one, this one is a joy to fly and, the video camera is cool as hell. Already flew it inside for a bit and then did several outdoor runs. Within about an hour I was back on Banggoods looking for the next purchase! At that rate, I'll probably have some stupid amount of them by the time SELEM rolls around. First person video here we come...!

I take it you bought the V222 quad? I agree, it's fun (and easy) to fly, and the camera is really good for as cheap as it is.

So what's next? Gonna try the Hubsan 107D with FPV on the controller? Can't believe how much the price has dropped on that one... I paid just over $200 for mine. (If you are going to get one, you'll want to pick up a 99 cent I-phone camera fish-eye lens off E-bay to increase the field of view of the on-board camera.)

Yes and yes. The V222 along with extra batteries and parts. Really amazing video quality. The only issue I seem to have is it really wants to move backwards after takeoff all the time. I can tilt it forward a little and get it hovering fairly steady but definitely wants to back up towards me.

And yes, the other is the Hubsan. I'm toying around with the Wltoys V323 as well.

May throw a heli in with the order and just be done with it. I'll either do the helicopter or the V323. For helicopter I'm thinking the V911. I just don't know what they mean by "new plug version". With as cheap as they are, I'd like to get one with a controller and then this:

you're getting deep enough into the quads / copters that you might want to think about getting into a more "mainstream" gear setup.

You can get a Spektrum DX-6i radio now for $139.
That's for a 6-channel, spread-spectrum radio with 10 separate fully-programmable model memories.
(Which means each memory slot can be custom-configured for conventional airplane or multirotor, helicopter, or sailplane. Each model only needs to be programmed once, then it's always avaialble with just a few clicks through the transmitter's menu system.)

The Spektrum radios are compatible with a huge list of bind-and-fly (ready to fly - just link to your transmitter) models from E-Flite, Blade and Parkzone, ranging from tiny indoor quads (some with cameras) and micro helicopters, up to 700-class helicopters, GoPro-carrying quads, jets, and scale warbirds with operating flaps and retractable landing gear.

The micros that are equivalent to what you are buying overseas do cost a bit more than those imports, but the trade-off is you have radios, aircraft, parts, and batteries readily available at the local hobby shops (HobbyTown USA is one of the franchise shops that carries all these brands), with the supply & warranty support of a major US distributor (Horizon Hobby).

In laser terms, it's a bit like i-show versus some of the more "mainstream" laser hardware and software like LSX, the various Pangolin packages, etc.
If you're going to get serious about it, in the long run it might be cheaper to just jump in with the good stuff.

FWIW, I can vouch for the quality of the gear I listed -
My RC fleet currently includes a Blade CX3, mSR, SR, 400 3D, and 500X helicopters, Nano QX and 350 QX quads, and ParkZone T-28 plane.
Each of these can be flown with my Spektrum DX-6i or DX-9 radios.

(I also have a Futaba 14SG and a Synergy N7 700-class nitro helicopter on the bench, but that's another story...)

And no - I'm not a secret Horizon Hobby dealer...
But it would be nice to get the employee discount!!
