Are you sure your not thrashing those scanners? It would appear that the polyswitch is going open to try to save the scanner.. Looks like the X scanner is the one with troubles.

    Mine had the same issue.
One of the connectors causes this.
You should set a bit of motion on them or clean their contact pins.

    Any luck yet?

I noticed there is a lot of jumping of the galvos before it goes really crazy which looks like a PSU problem.

I had the same issue. Had 3 heads all DT-40 pros. All set to the same scan angle and speed all running off the same QM. But one head spazzed out.

Checked wiring and its good. Ended up pulling the projector apart (to replace the green), iam rebuilding it now.

That scanner is freaking out. I would not leave that scanning for too long.
Did you measure temperature with an IR thermometer of both amp and scanset?

Andy, check the heatsinking on the scanner AMP to make sure its a decent temperature and not too hot. If it's genuinely cool bypass the yellow polyswitch fuse on the AMP as a test.

    thanks for the suggestion guys

someone who owns these scanners told me they worked perfect, when actually the issue has been happening for a long time. so ive given the scanners back and said good luck...

originally i thought id done something to them.
