As I already have Beyond and I'm a home user, I'm not going to be spending money on additional programs, but I appreciate the recommendation. Always good to know what is around.

I'm just curious about emulaser's potential as I see it as a potential winner for home party's / mobile & pub Dj's where distances are very short to the audience. Lensing makes lasers possible, but in some instances such as home parties or very small commercial rooms, I can see the value of emulaser as a quicker, easier and safer alternative.

It certainly can and a decent lcd projector with a wide angle lens can cost as little as £200- no brained really ;-)

I think one of the downsidesa was the cost of V3D. Up until recently it was $1500 for a license, and i think that was prett single minded in as much as it only did projector output.

Pretty good point. Beyond is that same price +- depending on the package.

I'm still surprised no-one has produced an all diode projector yet.

520nm Green is now in 1W and there are options on red. I'm sure at Casio bulk buy levels, it has to be possible to produce a full diode video projector at a reasonable price.

Roll on the consumer versions.

That way good modulation and perfect blacks are assured so we can concentrate on getting the lumen value correct rather than having to worry about finding a good contrast ratio.

I'm going to hazard a guess than 72 laser diodes would be a pretty bright source in any event (24 + 24 + 24).

With V3d the masking was spot on, I'm sure if Clive is around he'll explain how he managed it, there was no ghosting or leakage on the blackout in between frames or when no image was on which made it really an obvious choice. The demo is on their website www.laserelectronicsltd.org.UK.
Or pm Clive on here, I've used them for over 15 years and never had anything but free advice and help from either Clive or Kevin.
It works well and I'm surprised non of the US guys have looked at the option.
I'm busy shouting at Beyond at the moment but I will dig out the pictures.
Imagine dual video cards and multiple rgb's with safe audience scanning - the possibilities are endless

All I saw on the V3D video was graphics. What's the point in projecting vector style laser graphics with video? Except for abstracts, I always thought laser cartoon graphics were crude compared to what is possible with video anyway. In the old days when the corporate client couldn't afford multiple laser projectors we projected laser graphics on the center screen and video reproductions were projected on the side screens, and actually looked pretty good. Now that we see tours or shows with 20 laser projectors, what would be the point? Good idea for non-beam atmospheric audience scanning though.

Just wanted to add this to the thread.

For those in Europe, you won't find the Epson 5030UB as it's re-badged the Epson TW9200.

So its the latter number you need to search for. Quite expensive over here as well at £2,700 at the most discount stores and £3k at many others.
