Read the clues folks... and think outside the box, i.e. "Use you're imagination".

    1) He said that big customers/distributors know what it is and, not to tell or let on that they know.
2)They want to give away these sets.
3)They're slower than 4000's yet exactly the same, not shorter, longer, thicker.
    4) They'll make your projector smaller. And it's all because of a unique feature - worldwide unique, they say!

    So....

They're customer returns of underspec 4000's! And once you decide you can't live with them either, you'll switch to the new unique, sold worldwide Compact 506 with a digital amp that's less than half the size, thereby realizing you can make your projector much smaller!

(Guess I'm not winning a pair?)

    Default And the winners are...!

    Hello Everyone !

I think we made it too easy for you ! Or, even better, the level of PL members is quite high !!!

Yes, the correct answer is that the EMS-5100 has an integrated servo driver built into the scanner body. It has much lower consumption and operates from +/-12V up to +/-15V DC. Two SMPS 15V/25W in series are enough. The PS can be placed in the free space between the X and Y scanner, making a 110/220V mains powered scanning head at 9x9cm footprint. We will release a datasheet in a couple of days explaining all the above. We will first post it here, as we are in the process of remaking our website and this may take longer.

The first three correct answers come from :

    1) Sebastien Kottelat
    2) Pritt Kukk
    3) Mickael (kl79)

Each of the winners will receive a free set. Enjoy !

We had many correct answers from members, including Bill Benner ! Congratulations to all !
To be honest, we feel that we have let the US members down a little, due to the time difference.
We will be happy to organize a group buy if there is enough interest from members. The price will be a nice surprise !

    All the best,

And here we see the effects of a bit of new competition in the scanner market

Who said the customer won't benefit all round...??!

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Wow, good surprise for me too Thanks a lot !

At first to my eyes it seemed an insane guess but I still tried to send it to you. But finally you made it, very good job

These scanners will for sure be useful to build a miniature pure diode laser projectors!

    Tom,

Understand I was teasing a little bit above. I also just spent time this weekend with Bill and saw Pangos new scanners in person. I don't know enough about scanners to have make an educated guess but, I do own some Eye Magics. I'll be interested to read a little more about these when they come out. As Norty said, all this new work/competition with scanners just helps to benefit the industry as a whole.
