Hi guys and girls.
Here are some pics of my projector build.
Its a slow process due to time constraints but I'm having the best time fussing over the details and learning new things and trying different manufacturing processes.
I could have bought this off the shelf much cheaper, but I wanted to build something that I would be proud of and give me a creative/technical outlet.
It's become a total obsession.
As you can see, I've taken several design cues from RGBLasersystems, (thanks Robert and tech support for your help) . Their RGB6 module and power supply allow for a sealed inclosure and compact size.
This is similar to their compact6. I made mine a little larger to accommodate scan though effects gratings and servos and also the Eyemagic IRIS ColorSafe.
My design goals are-
- maximum power and visibility allowed by my states local laws.
- versatile enough to do graphics and beam shows.
- maximise safety
- professional grade components
- reliability
- aesthetically pleasing
- easy maintenance
- easy access to make mechanical and electronic adjustments.
- Not be too heavy.
Many thanks to everyone here, both professionals and fellow hobbyists, who have been so generous with their advice, support and fantastic software and hardware solutions.
PL changed my life and I'm not exaggerating. It's help me immensely in being able to follow my dreams!!
I haven't fired up my scanners yet. I've been trying to finish machining the mechanical parts first. The fans are gaffa taped to the heat sink at the moment and being an upside down design, its a little difficult to run it while its not finished.
I should have a few more pics when I get home in a few days and can make some more parts.
Cheers
Kit
