WELL i personally look for a preset that sounds kinda cool , then tweak the hell out it until i dont like it anymore and move on to the next. until i find a sound i like .
im not a sound engineer and i dont do this for money so idgaf haha

Fixing all the timing issues with the track and adding some darker elements to it

Even if you did it wouldn't be a problem really.
I really just think it's an issue with people who would be completely up there doing the humongous gigs, skrillex deadmau5, etc (that kind of level)

Editing presets is way better then just grabbing them raw and using them directly so props for that!

the "techno" techno, not the electronic music "techno"

techno has evolved since the 2000's. back then a typical techno bpm was 140+. Now techno hovers around 124-130
Hard tech is still 138+ bpm.

and yes im refering to the Genre techno. Not the generalization-the-uneducated-call-electronic-music techno LOL

And I wouldn't call anyone doing that a scientist like I wouldn't call a person typing random words as your login password a hacker.
So I wouldn't judge anyone for using presets because then they've just decided to not waste time on guessing games with the synthesizer to get the desired timbre for the instruments and focused on other aspects of their song.
that is the best analogy I have ever heard

Phew... I just read through all of this and, while I fully support different strokes for different folks, I have to say I'm happily ignorant enjoying Aerosmith, Rush, Van Halen, etc. LOL
