I would have demanded that they shut them off.

In this case, you are running lasers that are powerful enough to cause eye damage. True, your projectors are set up correctly, but there are other lasers in the venue that are out of your control that are crowd-scanning. If someone decided to be a pain in the ass, they could "claim" an eye injury and file suit against you. Then you'd have to PROVE that it wasn't your lasers that did the damage. I don't even want to think about all that hassle.

You'd probably win, but it would be a huge mess. To me, if they're hiring a laserist, they have no business running their own gear. That's what you are there for.

the video obviously makes it worse than it really is.
I hardly ever realize they are even on because they are so dim. until someone mentions it..

I agree. And I also understand that your lasers were safe (because they were elevated above the crowd) and these cheap Chauvet units were likely also safe (because they were such low power).

But even so, I would never allow crowd-scanning of any kind to go on if it was my name on the contract. Too easy to get sued. That video on youtube alone would probably be enough to get a lawyer to take up the case on a contingency basis.

Besides - why would they want to run their shitty lasers when they have yours already running? (Considering how much better yours looked!) Just dumb on their part...

Ok.... I just found this thread. Damn, have I developed a reputation. That 'splains my angst looking a credit card statements!

    Here goes:

3 watt RGB (CT Lasers) (only doing about 2 watt right now)
    3 watt RGB (smog)
    2.5 watt RGB (Lightspace)
    2.5 watt RGB (Lightspace)
    2.5 watt RGB (Lightspace)
    2.5 watt RGB (Lightspace)
    2.5watt RGB (Lightspace)
    2.3watt RGB (from memory)(KGB)
    1.6 watt RGB (Kvant)
    1.6 watt RGB (Kvant)
    1 watt 532 (Lightspace)
    1 watt 532 (Lightspace)
    850 mwRGB (CR Tec)
    800mw RGB (LKPD1)
    500mw RGB (REKE)
    500mwRGB (REKE)
    500mwRGB (Laserworld)
    475me RGB (CR Tec)
    220mw RGB (Meierlight)
    250mw 532 (Laserworld)

    (That's only 20...I think I'm forgetting some.)

    Under construction:
    800mw RGB
    Probably around 12 watt RGB

    1 gas/diode lumia projector

    2 Mobolaser ML-10's - one with 1 watt argon, 1 with 2+ watt Melles Griot 532
    3 BlissLight BL-15's

    "DJ" type coherent things:
    4 Chavet Scorpion Storm MG's
    2 Chauvet Scorpion Storm RG's
2 American DJ Emerald Sky's bumped to 15mW
1 Chauvet Grafxpress L-80 moving head laser
    1 Chauvet LG-20
    1 Chuavet Scorpion Sky
    2 double tunnel Shinp DL-55 220mw RG

    Not physically in my possesion:
1 Lumalaser XG300 lost in Connecticut along with several thousand dollars of other gear
1 Coherent Sabre 16 watt whitelight, etc., etc.,
4 Laserscopes in Texas (1 converted, 3 not) that were supposed to come east recently

In addition... there is more than enough random modules (Kvant, RGB Lasersystems, DHOM, CNI), scanners and other parts to probably cobble together another 4-5-6 perhaps RGBs.

    Not bad for four years.

And this doesn't even "touch" on all the other gear and non-coherent stuff. That's out of control!

That's amazing, or sick, not sure exactly. What ever it is, I wish I lived in Delaware. I'm envious of Mark!
