    Default Minirig speakers

    These just arrived
Hand made in the U.K by a small company out of machined ali, which is anodised (several different colours), and holy shit they're loud, really loud!. I just sat in the car to test it, plugged my phone in, put the speaker on the passenger seat, the sub in the footwell and cranked it up. The sound is staggering!
They come as individual units (normal speaker and subwoofer), so you have to order them separately on Amazon. A lot of people don't bother with the sub, i got one to go with the speaker to test, but after hearing it in the car i'll be ordering another (for stereo).
Travel bags they come in are brilliant, and i'll be taking these away on holiday!

These were developed by a member (daveyt) of the forum I used to admin some years ago, and we were lucky enough to hear about the very early prototyping and design stages.

Its awesome they've taken off so well - well enough for them to be copied (poorly), which is always a good sign of success!

The new sub has been very eagerly anticipated.

Here's his thread in 2010 where he revealed the prototype. I think it ran for over 50 pages!

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Thanks for that Adam,. i'll have a read.
They offer no power buttons or bluetooth, and the volume is taken from source which i personally think is great.
As soon as you plug in a jack they turn on, unless you're using the sub in which case you can turn them on remotely.

Those look pretty cool, but they sure are pricey...

Thats because they actually perform properly, both in terms of SPL and sound quality, and battery life - unlike some of the cheaper alternatives.

you really need to hear one/some to understand why they're so popular. 2 of the regular ones and a sub are a formidable portable sound system!

I can vouch for the pressure level of the speaker. At 5 feet it is painfully loud on full whack. The sub gives it warmth, and at low to medium levels it really sounds fantastic.
The fact that with the exception of the holding ring/s on the top and bottom (polycarbonate) the rest is anodised ali makes it very robust. Multiple units can even be daisy chained together

Yes, this is the really unique thing about them.

Do not underestimate the power of 20 of the buggers.....

    LOL

It's also refreshing to see a company using RMS figures, instead of bloated MPO or PMPO

Davey T comes from a free party DIY sound system background, and so accutely understands about the BS of 'marketing watts' and how to get the most efficiency out of

I think the original concept (from a discussion prior to that one i linked) was to produce mini replicas of actual sound systems (think scoops, folded horns, big stacks of speakers, etc)
