Default DMX with laser projectors, how does it work?

So i got a DRGB1000 from Goldenstar and like many other projectors it has DMX in and out ports. How do you control it via DMX? And what does "auto mode" and "music mode" mean and how do you use that? I've seen those mentions in almost every laser projector seller from china but i cant find info anywhere how it works.

The manual that comes with it (or is downloadable from the mfg.) should tell you how all those functions are implemented.
Unlike standardized ILDA control using a laser-control DAC, there's going to be a lot of variation between manufacturers if using DMX.
"Auto mode" and "music mode" are also going to be very manufacturer-specific.

Also, you're generally going to very limited to what you can do with DMX in a laser projector, compared to using a laser-control DAC.

Assuming the projector's model # implies it's a 1-watt RGB, you would be MUCH better off controlling it with a computer-based ILDA standard laser-control DAC.
It may cost a bit more up front, but in the long run it will be worth it...

If you still decide to go DMX, you're going to need either a stand-alone DMX controller console, or a computer-based DMX interface and a compatible software package.

One additional comment that is actually a response to the post that comes after this one:

If you go DMX, please use ONLY DMX-certified cables, along with a DMX terminator at the end of your chain!
A 1-watt RGB is nothing to take chances with, and the last thing you need is the projector lasing unpredictably due to DMX-signal droputs!

    Hi Zorn,

Music mode - Uses beat to trigger effects from internal memory.
Auto mode - scrolls those effects automatically.
Do control it with DMX you have to buy DMX desk or computer program with DMX interface. You use (usually 12 channels) to control different parameters.
Every channel controls different parameter that you can find from manual (if you have one - if not ask from Goldenstar)
If you have many of them you can connect them with DMX cabel (plane old XLRm-XLRf will do) and one controls other(s) so they all (as much you have)work synchronized.

Like singing birthday card has a memory that has the song on it.
There are lasers that use sd cards to store but there are few out there.

Master sends a dmx signal to other lasers. No mather what mode the master has, it sends out duplicate signal for others.

Could not find a audio mode on Moncha.net. Also dont see any connections for sound trigger on the board but goldenstar will give the right answer.
Have not seen Internal DAC with SD-card on Goldenstar lasers. But they will install Moncha.net that has SD-card memory.

    Hi,

You can choose control mode in LCD, there are ILDA, SD , AUTO, DMX, SOUND control in our laser, if you want DMX control, you choose DMX in LCD,and then choose "ENTER" , the laser will go to "DMX" mode ,and then you need to bring DMX cable to DMX controller, the laser will be controlled under DMX.

It is not difficult, please try it,if any questions, please feel free to contact us.

    Nice day!
