This abstract process of inversion is solidified by the work's color scheme, which calls to attention the developing "postcolonial" world, in which groups excluded by the discourses of Orientalism try to interpellate themselves into oppressive systems by engaging in interrelated modern discourses like that of "scientific progress." Instead it represents a utopian vision wherein all the artist's attention has been focused on what lies outside the scope of our modern scientific viewpoints (think folklore, ghosts, "tribal" customs, etc), and which calls our attention to the same.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

So where are we with this? Has a design been chosen? It just sort of died.

In the absence of any further suggestions, I decided to go with Greg's design for this year.

After SELEM you should be able to associate most attendees names with screen names.
