Ilda card required??

Hi all,
Congrats for you fantastic forum

I'm building my first rgb projector & recently acquired Pangolin QuickShow FB3/QS & DT40pro galvos. Want ILDA analog.
So ready to wire ILDA system but I have one doubt, maybe a newbie question, sorry for this but I haven't found info about:

Fig 1: FB3 out ILDA db25 inputs to "ILDA BOARD", ILDA board wires to LASER DRIVERS (FLEXMOD p3) & GALVO drivers
Fig 2: FB3 out ILDA db25 wires DIRECTLY to LASER DRIVERS (FLEXMOD p3) & GALVO drivers

My question is:
Do I really need an "ILDA BOARD" inside projector?? (fig1) or Can I wire db25 coming from FB3 DIRECTLY to LASER DRIVERS (FLEXMOD p3) & GALVO drivers....(fig2)

I've found severall "ILDA BOARD", FOR INSTANCE:

you can wire it directly. the "ilda card" is just a db25 breakout card that makes wiring easier than soldering to the little pins on the db25 connector.

You don't NEED one, but your life will be MUCH better if you use one

The amount of tears you save by spending the small amount of money on a breakout board are significant.

Do you think I could achieve analog modulation wiring directly? I've ordered some Flexmod P3. They seems to work this way

Are you referring about easy-wiring also soldering etc, or I could obtain more features with card?

yes, it has some electronics for things like interlock/e-stop/shutter, etc. these things are handy, but not necessary. you will have no problems getting analog modulation by wiring the flexmod p3's to the db25.

you might consider a buffer stage with gain adjustments. well worth the effort.

Took me aq minute to remember what this walled but here is a good circuit you can get to add to the input to your projector

it allows the gain to be inverting or not over a unity buffer range. You could change the feedback resistor to make it gain over unity if you want. This is very handy and it also protects your projector from outside ground loops and such. I think STANWAX makes such a board right off.
