    Default combine new 462nm with 445nm

    I have some older show material that has a second violet line I have never used. Since we now have the 462nm diode line is there any dichro for combining 462nm and 445nm? seem far enough away. Maybe a low pass filter that reflects 445nm ie pass all wavelengths below say 455nm and reflect above 450nm? seems a sharp transition needed. Thinking a pbs cube might be the best way to do it with a waveplate for the 445nm diode.

    PBS and waveplate on the 445 is the way mine are done

    You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

    I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    Dichro = £360 solution.
    PBS = £25 solution.

    I wouldn't bother splitting the colour lines for 445/462nm; I bet the results would be poor from an ABX test!

    Dichro = £360 solution.
    PBS and waveplate = £65 solution.
    Fixed that for ya

    Point well made though

    £40 shaved off for the cheapskate "rotate the diode for mismatched beam geometry".
    But yes, my bad.

    'tis true; and you won't find it on any of my builds.
    Just retrospective back peddling on the price fudge.

    I used the group buy WP and Dave's new blue cube. I didn't see any huge difference in efficiency or loss with the WP on the 445 diode. I didn't try the WP on the 462. The cube worked great for the 462.

    I am really curious to see how these work out in the projector. Specifically, if the 445 "pulls" the blue mix down too much to realize the effect of the 462 wavelength. Also really want to see the apparent brightness of beam effects, comparatively.

    My intended purpose is to use the diodes separately. The 462 is blue and 445 is violet. I have old show material that used the extra line and I never actually saw the material from the violet lines so this would be like seeing it fresh all over again.
    I guess to see it correctly I would have the 462nm as the violet and the blue at 473nm but no 473nm diodes just yet. Now if only I could get 1W of clean red in single mode

    Maybe next year we will see fiber and opsl prices drop as these diodes take hold.

    I think we will see some comparisons soon. A lot of people got in on the new annual deal from Omar that has the 462. Hopefully the brightness is a lot more than 445.
