Would be nice to break these down into categories such as: good, bad, free, price, compatible dacs, etc. It would be an excellent FAQ table that could be pinned somewhere.

heh heh... Oh my goodness, this thread made me reminisce, there were hundreds of software packages I remember seeing, 99% of them best left forgotten. I can think of 3 commercial packages whose software was
creatively titled "Laser Show Software"... I could imagine the conversations,

"So, what software are you running?"

    "ah... Laser Show Software(TM)"...

"hmm... I figured, what laser show software are you using?"

    "It's Laser Show Software(TM)"...

    "blah"

... these are the same people whose company name isn't "Laser Show Company" soley because
some other creative individual already used that name.

How do you get he-laserscan to work on the popelscan DAC? I always thought you had to have the usb dongle...

    edit:
Nevermind... it DOES work! Just not too well... Now I can display the ilda test image. It blinks a lot. It looks straight but blinks.

    edit 2:
Wow I can watch some new shows!!! Chistian is there any way to get the audio for your shows? Babel fish isn't having an easy time with your site and I don't speak German at all.

Just came across this site www.laseranimation.com.

They have software called ProTize. Looks really nice.

check out their lpv player and their sample lpv files. It simulates what it would look like on a really nice projecotor almost don't need it anymore

    cheers.

    Default LFI Player

There is also the open-source 'LFI Player' software. It doesn't support many DAC options, BUT it has a nice 3+ channel abstract generator that you can output to a .ILD file.

In order to get to the Abstract generator you have to open a .abs file (that's the abstract file) then click the "track focus" radio buttons until the abstract control panel opens. Then you can view the abstract on the screen, and hit the record button to save .ILD.

It is coded in visual C++ for anybody interested in modding it. I'm not in any way affiliated with LFI player, but it is a decent piece of free software to have.
