in answer to some of the questions asked
yes i did consider replacing all 3 power supplies with a unit from maplin,
    - output 5v at 5a but in the end decided to just use those supplied

the mounts are fine adjustable mirror mounts with the edmund dichroic filters, mounted on a piece of sheet aluminium (as suggested by james stewart)
1mm ali seems fine just glued using araldite epoxy or use thicker upvc sheet(the dichroics are quite thick, ~3mm)

the beam specs are as stated on,
    http://stores.ebay.com.au/Lasershow-Parts
i think the red had the worst specs of the 3

all 3 units are analogue........but don't have a meter to meausre the actual outputs
thanks for the comments, this is a great forum, especially for newcomers and help

Whose Optics mounts are those that you are using? They look nice and robust, I take it they are fully adjustable also?

    Cheers

Jem, they are Newport optical mounts. Whats nice about them is that they are adjustable from the top instead of the sides. If I remember correctly, the model is HVM-1i

Actually you would need at least a 15amp supply. I've only tested the green dpss, which was drawing 4.5amps. So a single 5amp supply wont run all 3, but a 15-20amp supply will. I switched because when the three lasers were making any kind of contact with one another, with the 3 individual supplies, now and then the red led on the drivers would kick on and the output to drop significantly. It was pretty eratic, sometimes work great for 20 minutes then freak out. But with the new single supply, no problems.

What is the diameter of the dichros you are using? I am looking at the Edmunds Optics dichros and am not sure if I should get 12.5mm or 25mm.

Me? I'm using the 25mm optics just because the HVM-.5 was too small for my application, so I had to use the HVM-1i which uses 25mm optics.
