If thats MTBF then they're seriously overdriven. If its 50% brightness (standard for LED lifespan quotes usually) then its also quite worrrying.

If its 80% output then it may not be as bad as people think, but in the absence of any further info....
Sorry for late reply - I was bit busy with holiday

These values are specified by diode manufacturers + we can confirm them by long term tests & customers' feedback.
Overdriving? We are strongly against it so definitely not.

No, unless you are willing to invest to a good quality DPSS module which would increase the price of the whole unit drastically.

2000h? wtf? seems to be little low...
i'd like the idea of a kwant system... but all are just laughing on that...
Well..little low.. This is what laser diode manufacturer specifies and what we can confirm from our experience. It is just reality when it comes to 637s

Martin, you still haven't answered the question. What specifically do the diode manufacturers mean by '2000 hours'?

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

    Sorry, I didn't get it.

2000 hours of diode's nominal output and THEN it goes down.

Ok, so we're talking somewhere in the region of 95% then. I'd say that's pretty good.
