Default A nice piece of Gear....

Since everyone here is always looking for tiny gear, I thought I'd post a pic of one of my favorite toys. I have four of these in my collection. These are late 1980s R2 scan heads by Laser Systems Development Corp. I do actually use these from time to time. The whole unit is aluminum. It is precision TIG welded at the corners. Just attach to a large frame ion and go.,.... Attachment can be easy if your Ion has a standard 1"-32 Threaded port on the front, with a small plate setting underneath to take the weight of the bezel of the laser. On they can set on Standoffs on a baseplate. You could feed say four of them from a Prism, for RYGB abstracts. Back then the Ledex shutter was not considered too slow.

The beam comes in through the concentric tubing, which doubles as a pivot.

Always wanted one as a kid in 1990 or so... I finally obtained them them much later then I expected.

Add a pair of scan amps, and your basic Ion laser, and this is actually quite a capable, practical, projector.

Very cool. I like older vintage gear. Wow, serial #014 - are all four sequential #s or random?

I know what you mean about wanting a laser when you were younger and not getting one until much later. That explains why I now have 30 laser chorus & 16 vipers from High End. I installed them for customers in many clubs, but back when they were new I couldn't afford any for myself. Now they are affordable, I have way too many, and I don't even do any gigs where I get to use them. They sure make my garage look cool though!

Great bit of old school kit. I just added a 1991 Laserscope KTP/532 to my collection and need a suitable scanner head to make its beam wiggle. Any interest in building a period correct system I could plug in and play?

I have a 1991 Scann head that might just fit that.
