Been reading this thread, and have one more question for Riyalasers.
As i own a Riya DAC lite, i wonder if i can use that togheter with GLS?
Meaning using two DAC`s in GLS without purchasing more licenses or software keys.

The specs says "Control Up to FOUR output devices are available".
I guess The Lite DAC is supported as the specs says backwards compatible with Riya DAC.

For the Price of this, I guess it`s a steal.

yes; for it in RIYA Multibus (Lite/Micro/Basic/Pro) controllers should be updated firmware.
Price of this operation is USD 70
Note: GLS software support work only in USB mode

No; license for GLS is embedded in controller's firmware

For it every controller should have GLS license

New GLS Lite controller is backward compatible with all software products, oriented to RIYA Multibus system command (LDS, LSX, ILD_SOS, LaserCam, Spaghetti, LFI, HE-Laserscan, Zoof's utility etsc.)

    Thaks for quick reply Riyalasers.
That answer blew up the thought of getting me a lisence. (At least for now)

I guess the information given should be more clear in the specs.

Nevertheless, it`s a really god start for beginners, and real value for money.

I am about 2 inches from ordering. I am new to laser shows and it is only a hobby for me so not looking to do any for-profit shows.

I have a few bucks stashed in PayPal from selling some yard sale goodies at a 400% profit so I can afford this dongle.

My only question is comparability. I built my own laser projector. It works fine so far as the generic pre-programed cartoons go so the hard ware is basically done.

Here is what I have from Chinese sources.

    * RGB analog/ttl module. ( I like it...nice white light laser with no modulation, [slight blue tinge] )

    * One of those eBay scanner / show card sets. Seems to work fine.

    * Has DMX and ILDA connectors.

If I understand this dongle it is an industry standard ILDA output connector that should drive this showcard to produce laser shows.

    Am I correct?

If I purchase this and have the above already assembled and working I should be able to design and project a laser show for Christmas?

My projects are on my hobby site http://paulckruger.com

Ihor's new dongle works great. Fully ILDA compatible, drives long cables well, very good resolution, excellent color signals.

How far you get on a Xmas show really depends on what you want to do and how much time you can spend.
It also depends if you are doing graphics, beams, number of event tracks your using etc.

Cue events per second also factors in here, no matter what software platform. Ie a slow tempo piece like "O Holy Night" might be cranked out as a beam show in a 7 hour day. An award winning 1450 cue show to techno might take one hundred man hours.

Most of the video tutorials for LSX apply to GLS, about 75%. So Yes, if you can spare some weekends, you'll have something for XMas.
