    Default Osram Module, The Future....

I've long wondered why no one did this, as it makes sense in a video projector.
In fact I predicted it some years ago, on PL.

    The Future... Behold the PLPM4

Odds are this is not going in something you can buy at a Big Box type store and hack.... At least not at first.

    Enjoy,

    Steve

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

Its not that easy. I know how to do it but you need a meter long RIGID optical bench and a good CNC. There will be three stages of precise optics for each beam between the block and the fiber. The required off axis aspheric fold mirror is not that cheap, either. That assumes the dies are mounted reasonably precisely. The unit it was designed for will not need such precision. The final fiber will not be small diameter, either. Based on past experience, minimum X scanner mirror diameter will be ~13 mm.

4 strings of five diodes, ~ 200 watts of drive needed.

Swami, the mirrors you saw me install for the NYE gig were 6x11 mm, and that beam was actually small for what it is. When dealing with very large beams, he galvo amps will need a additional circuit block to process the incoming signal. They will not be tuned to stop at every point like we do now. The diode driver will need to "talk" to the galvo's position sensor.

That's all I'm saying on the topic.

that's may not a very good news. Maybe in the future it will be difficult to find single blue diodes ?

Not with the 462s out and the Osram 450s. I think we'll be set for a while.
